freaks!
artfreak & printfreak. I had a good some-sort-of-pre-halloween events here and there. I had an on-call duty on friday evening, but after that, the fun starts. I met Kel and Mel at Dupont Circle for MY late dinner (they ate earlier at Baja Fresh). I was in mood for greek food so Zorba's CafĂ© was suggested, and we went there. I ate Souvláki: marinated chicken breast, charbroiled and topped w/ lettuce, tomato, onion, feta cheese, and tzatziki (local's yogurt-cucumber dressing). YUM! Pretty simple local cooking, but absolutely yummy, makes me feel I'm in Greece. The enviroment shows lots of photo from Greece, but what's interesting is the word "Zorba" came from 1964's motion picture Zorba the Greek. I ought to watch it. Anyway, after my dinner, we went to Starbucks - there's deaf GLBT gathering - just pure chat & coffee. FUN.
Saturday: another nite, another dinner, plus bar - that evening, mel and I hang out with few friends for dinner at Indian restuarant in.. aha, dupont circle again! Honestly, i was trying to go with the flow to where we eat. Originally, it was ethopian restaurant, then CPK - california pizza kitchen. Somehow, in the middle of metrorail - Indian food was chosen. Then Bucca - italian restaurant, but it was packed! We decided to eat at Indian Restaurant. Mel and I ordered lamb curry, garlic naan, and vegetable samosa. Great food. All spicey touch. I haven't had that taste for a long time, so it was hawt & good. The weather was very chilly at that time, so we ought to go via metro to get to the bar. Unfortunately, we looked at the subway map for clear direction. We concluded the distance made no difference whatsoever. Instead of metrorail, we walked about 6 blocks to reach Titan Bar, which is above Hamburger's Mary. Excellent facade- all the glamor rainbow color in a good artsy way. Once you get in... and UP.. titan's bar is located on the second floor, of course, one bar area, front- stage area w/ tables & high chairs, back area has small dancing area, but it's more space for crowded area to have their own roomy space. Anyway, CMRA hosting annual event called eye party whenever Gallaudet U Homecoming pops up. Pretty much fundraising as well - jello shots & raffles, plus entertainment: costume contest and stories. I'm disappointed when i heard the eye party is located the same bar as last year. However, I must say, last Saturday is actually better than last year. My first eye party (few years ago) was located @ Washington Plaza hotel. Hopefully next year will be different place. I suggest Halo! Hm, I'm gonna check it out in my own time.
AH! before i forget, earlier this week, mel and I went to Ben's Chili Bowl restaurant at U Street. Historical Landmark since 1958. I'm astonished how this little restaurant went thru civil rights movement to current. Their chili has its spicy spice, but it tasted great! Definitely go there during winter cuz chili soup would just warm you up in a minute!
