whole foods & mt. vernon

Ready, aim, fire! ::BOOM::
uploaded by jnell.

last weekend was fun. Friday nite, mel and I met dora at Silver Spring. We're meeting new friends named Generose & Joshua (homestate: Hawaii). They're friends of Karl - my former college friend back in RIT's days. They also intro'd their kid named... named... ::thinking:: dang, i can't remmy his name. It's a hawaiian name that starts with a "K." Kehual, Kehal? hmm. I gotta ask Gen again. Anyhoo, we chatted with them @ Whole Foods for the whole evening - getting to know each other, where we from, talk about Karl and few other friends that we're "link" to...so on.. & so on. Of course, we'll be seeing them again sometime soon.

On Saturday, Mel and I spent most of the day with friends at mt. vernon, historical landmark where consists George Washington's house & everything else on the property. There's a burial site of our first prez and few families.

We're tilted! Nah, not really. We had an amateur photographer take a pic of us. You know, my camera is designed in a weird way. go figure. ::sigh:: Moving on. We had a grand slow-motion-cuz-bunch-of-people-lined-up tour inside George's House. Lovely house, although his design was some kind of tacky teal-ish mode. Each room on the first floor is teal blue, teal green, or teal-whatever. ::shudder:: His choice of colors' a fad. 2nd floor turned out to be better color: pastel yellow and white. 5 bedrooms on second floor. The most impressive interior design is George & Martha's bedroom. White, but it's good use to put white design in simple way. Very relaxing. Out back of his house, there's an awesome view of the river. Superb relaxing!

Then there's the rest of houses - smoker house, salt house, paint house, washer house, ice house, and so forth. I can't believe during that time, every duty goes to its own house. Wanna wash ur clothes? Go to Washer house. Smoke ur beef? Go to smoker house. Thank goodness, today's people have most of appliances under ONE house. Also, George Washington has his own garden for fruits and vegetables. He had everything for his whole 8,000 acres.

Boy, were we exhausted with heat on a bright sunny day! Luckily, we brought our water bottle. And a smart one, too! Hence, smart water. I recommend it. ::wink:: We needed to hydrated our bodies, but it wasn't satisfactory. However, that day was also craft festival, so there was "food & beverage" booth. I got popsicles for me and mel. Yum. Very icy. Definitely helps cool it down. ::whew:: Ahem, Crafts festival consists all different kinds of craft works: wood furnitures, metal tools, ceramics cups, quilts, and so forth. Plus the people who work there - they dressed up in colonial times as well. They even have their campsite to sleep overnite. Fasinating. Mel and I bought homemade soaps - mint cocoa butter, spring rain, and patchouli (for our roomie).

After the day ends, the night begins with Kel's belated birthday celebration. Starts with cooking dinner, mel and I juiced up the grill at kel's patio for korean bulgogi while kelly and jeremy cooks other varieties of food in the kitchen. Where was william? ask him. lol. He was ranting at the poker game show on TV. My roommate, Eli, arrived to join us for dinner. Most foods served were korean food: dried fish, diff. kinds of veggies, & of course kim chee. Jeremy made his specialty - vegetable casserole. Delicious. Before all that dinner was happening, Noel (kel's dog) was so-o-o excited to see people. He gets more attention than everyone else. Later after dinner, an ice cream cake came for kel. More friends - Nhoc, Ely, and Andy arrived. Pretty much ate the cake and chat the nite away. Mel and I got back to our bed by 3 am.

click any photo, & it'll take u to MORE photos on my photosite. ENJOY!
