to da philly!

woot! My roommates and I went to Philly to see Dora and her lovely "honeybunny!" It was a nice getaway from DC for the weekend. I been to Philly before, but I haven't see the suburb area.

Friday: we arrived at Dora's place late nite. Dora made lovely chocolate cake. With that, it becomes a "midnite tea time." We caught up some news and shared laughter. Ugh, impeccable timing for my throat to be sore. I got a cold! ::sniff, sniff:: Good thing is I brought Riccola's (cough drops), but not enough. Went to dream's world cuz next day will be lots to do.

Saturday, we went to see dora's friends named Betty and Nancy. We visited their lovely home rite in Philly. Lovely people with 4 cats and a dog. A dog mixed with corgi & golden retriever named Tucker. Adorable! He loves to play. My heart went soft as I continued to play with him. He loved getting all the attention. Then we went out to Steve's Cheesesteak at South Street. Small restaurant, but great cheesesteak. It's all about Philly. After our stomachs stuffed, we walked around South Street. It's Philly version of NYC's Soho. Lots of people there - from punk to preppy. After we drop Betty back to her humble home, we went to metro Philly - where there is Liberty Bell and Old Congress Hall. To my surprise, Liberty Bell has its home renovated. It's all spazzied up. Too fancy. I like the design, but it's distracting the focus of Old Congress Hall. Good, but bit disappointed. Check out my pix album. It's in there. You'll see why. Later that nite, we ate at Top Tomato Pizza Kitchen at Walnut Street. For dessert, Mel ordered Hazelnut gelato and I picked Pecan & Banana (separately ofc) at Capogiro in South 13th Street. YUMMY! There's alot of elegant restaurants and unique stores to look at.

Sunday, Mike took us to Shad Festival at Lambertville, New Jersey. It's all about Shad - the local fish of southern NJ. Shad fish tasted quite delicious. There is a unique drink called Shad Punch, but for real? I'm too chickened out to try one. lol. New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ has great stores there. It reminded of some festive town in northern Georgia (without those booths). Dang, can't remmy the name of that town. Anyhoo, nice town-y feeling there, and diversity as well. We also stopped by to get chocolate enclairs at local bakery shop called "C'est La Vie" at 20 South Main St. (New Hope, PA). Great French specialties by French Chef Joel and his staff. Wonderful!
