daruma

daruma_jnell

yummy. My friends and I went to Daruma's Japanese grocery store. Daruma also serve lunch @ counter as well.

I looked at a big menu which posted up across the counter. Placed my order to a very nice clerk. She's friendly, and eager to learn sign language. A friend of mine taught her few signs. Another employee follow up as well. Way cool. I thank them, and respectfully bow my head as a japanese way of greeting. I went ahead to sit by the window, where the rest of my friends are. 2 mins later, food arrived. fast service I ordered pork cutlet w/ boiled egg and onion - topped it on bowl of rice. Final topping: seaweed. Yum. On the side is asian pickles. Interesting flavor - it has a bit of tang and kosher pickles at the same time. um hmmm. oh. wow. Overall: Delightful taste!

This place is located in Bethseda, MD. It's well-hidden in some way. If ya'll know where's MacUpgrades store, then Daruma is right next to it! It has tons of good stuff- soy sauce, rice, drinks, fruits, vegetables, meat section, freezer foods, dessert -mochi!- , candies, and many more. The pix on the right: big tuna. Ooh, I forgot an additonal bonus: imported movies from Japan. Amine, drama, action, thriller, comedy and horror. Horror? Yup definitely. Not HUGE place, but it's an awesome store.

Actually, there is another place that's actually a restaurant (not grocery). It's called Temari Cafe. I went there few years ago, and it definitely has a real japanese food. Not "sushi" bar or where chef entertains a hot tricks in front of seated customer. Temari Cafe is located in Rockville, MD. I like to go there again.

"Attention shoppers, we are closing in 10 mins. Please plan accordingly." Ooh, time to go! Buh bye.

Wish I knew about Temari when I lived in Rockville last year.
